I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

If there is water still leaking, turn off the tap to the appliance or fixture if you can, or go immediately to the main water shutoff valve for your property. If you are unable to locate the main valve to turn off, then you may want to try turning on all the cold water taps inside and outside the house to depressurise the pipework and minimise the leak.

While waiting, remove any important possessions from the area, and mop up any water or put a bucket to catch any drips. If you have turned the mains water off, also switch off the hot water heating as well.
